Content designer | UX Writer | Creative
As Lead Content Designer in the British Council’s Digital, Partnerships and Innovation team, I created outstanding content experiences for users across the globe. As a playwright, I have entertained and delighted audiences in London, Dublin and Edinburgh. I have a deep knowledge of how to captivate audiences and users and tell gripping stories, no matter the medium.
Language Assistants in aberdeen
Just before lockdown in February 2020 we were flown to Aberdeen to shoot a promotion campaign for the British Council’s Language Assistants scheme.
Our last in-person shoot before restrictions hit, I was proud that this was a culmination of all the video skills development I’d pursued in the Digital team so far. Having not had a video strategy prior to my joining, I led the team in video training and production.
I project managed, scripted, shot and edited the project, along with two colleagues who I trained up myself. As a result of the videos, applications to the scheme have been boosted.
The scheme (and our video) was later covered by the BBC, who featured Mathilde, a Language Assistant we shot in Stornoway, who has stayed on throughout Covid-19.
Macarthur foundation bid video
I put together a video for the British Council’s proposal to the 100&Change is a MacArthur Foundation competition.
The prize was for a $100 million grant to fund a single proposal that will make measurable progress toward a significant problem.
I scripted, recorded voiceover, edited and produced the video. We reached the final stages of the competition.
how can we represent everyone?
Represent was a personal project of mine which married my love of theatre, passion for video creation and frustration about the lack of diversity in the theatre industry.
I interviewed a variety of theatre makers, including writers, actors and directors, about their experiences of inequality, asking what can be done to improve the landscape.
75 stories shorthand for nigeria
Designing Shorthands was a joyful part of my work in the Digital team, working with stakeholders to find a marriage between visuals, storytelling and bringing the customer on board.
When the British Council Nigeria celebrated 75 years of creating arts and education opportunities in the country, I worked with them to use archival images to create a narrative. The shorthand was designed to celebrate the legacy of the British Council in the region and encourage users to share their own anecdotal experiences with the British Council.
